Panic

November 11, 2007

We’re deep in the holiday season, heading towards Christmas like a bus out of control.  You feel it when you are in stores that on the day before Halloween already are stocking their holiday stores (Hello, Walmart).  It’s the deep sense of utter and complete panic that hits when you realize how much you have to do to get ready to celebrate the holidays.  It shouldn’t be that way, but it always seems to go in that direction.

That’s why I got a chuckle out of Mr. Hoffman’s latest blog post on Uncle Mark’s Holiday Gift Guide.  It’s a simple, calm, no-nonsense gift guide for everyone in your life.  Whether you are geeky or not, it’s got something in there for you.  It’s also a fun read.

Hoffman says that he cannot speak to the new parent recommendations, but as someone with a 1 year old in the house, I can say they are spot on, with the sole exception of mentioning the Bugaboo. I just don’t get why anyone would spend $900 on a stroller, when there are so many functional models out there sub $200. I for one love my Maclaren. It’s actually my second one (Mr. IT ran over the first one, thankfully without IT Boy inside). I’d never recommend anyone spend $900 on a stroller that doesn’t come with a Mary Poppins-like nanny pushing it. But it’s not Elle’s gift guide is it?
