Bye Bye Quills

Saw a post on PW that announced Reed (PW’s parent company) has “withdrawn support” for the Quill awards.  Which effectively kills them.  On the one hand, anything that promotes books is a good thing, so I’m sorry to think they will be no more.  On the other hand, it seemed to me that the Quills were without focus, not knowing whether to praise mass acceptance type books, or smaller press titles, and failing both at the same time.  I was hoping that after a couple of years they would hit their stride, but it appears that won’t happen.
