And the geeks shall lead the way

Do you have the urge to be rolling a d20?  If so, you could be among the early adopters who are using and loving e-book technology.  According to this AP article, e-book technology is a success in some unusual niches, including role playing gaming and romance novels.   The e-book format works for gamers, who are buying strategy guides to their games, including but not limited to Dungeons and Dragons.  RPGers can bring their reader with the guides loaded onto them, and not have to lug around heavy manuals (so much less geeky that way). The books they are buying in this format are for the most part short, sold for $1 to $2, mostly sub $10, and not encumbered with DRM.  The article talks about publishers who have sprung up to serve this audience and profited from it.  This is a nice example of finding the needs of a reader and figuring out how to give them want they want, content-wise.
